LOS ANGELES (Nov. 7, 2018) – Platinum Equity today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Jostens from Newell Brands in a transaction valued at approximately $1.3 billion. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval.
Jostens, based in Minneapolis, MN, is a trusted partner in the academic and achievement channel, providing products, programs and services that help its customers celebrate important moments. The company’s products comprise yearbooks, publications, jewelry and consumer goods that serve the K-12 educational, college and professional sports segments.

Established in 1897, Jostens was originally founded to repair customer’s keepsake jewelry. Since then, the company and the Jostens brand have grown to become synonymous with tradition, storytelling and celebrating achievements. Jostens’ 2017 net sales were $768 million.
